Embraer Celebrates 20 Years of E-Jets Service

Embraer, Finnair, and Nordic Regional Airlines (Norra) are celebrating a landmark 20-year partnership in European aviation, marking two decades of successful E-Jets service. This significant milestone commemorates the first Embraer E170 revenue flight operated by Finnair on October 1, 2005, on the historic route from Helsinki to Oslo. This inaugural journey ushered in a new era of regional connectivity, setting a high standard for comfort and operational reliability.

The collaboration expanded in October 2012 when Norra began flying the Embraer fleet on behalf of Finnair, further solidifying the tripartite alliance. To honor this anniversary, executives from all three companies gathered at Helsinki Airport for a celebratory event. The festivities preceded flight AY915, a special anniversary flight that retraced the original 2005 route to Oslo. This symbolic departure was assigned the unique call-sign “FIN20Y” and featured gate celebrations, executive speeches, and gifts for passengers, providing a special send-off.

Christine Rovelli, Chief Revenue Officer at Finnair, emphasized the fleet’s critical role in feeding traffic into the Helsinki hub, praising its excellent punctuality and reliability, operated by partner Norra. She also noted ongoing cabin renewals to further enhance the customer experience. Juha Ojala, Managing Director of Norra, highlighted the E-Jets as the reliable backbone of their operations, enabling efficient, high-quality regional service for Finnair’s customers.

Marie-Louise Philippe of Embraer Commercial Aviation described the moment as one of high emotion and great pride. She stated that the 20-year partnership is a testament to the enduring value of the E-Jets family, which has delivered unmatched performance, efficiency, and passenger satisfaction across Europe. This celebration not only honored two decades of collaboration but also reinforced the shared values and a joint commitment to future success, with all parties looking forward to many more years of flying together.Embraer Celebrates 20 Years of E-Jets Service
