Blighter Surveillance Systems has secured a follow-on contract from a South East Asian military to supply its smart and scalable B400 series mobile border surveillance radars. These ultra-reliable, solid-state radars will be installed on specialist army vehicles by a local systems integration partner for rapid deployment to infiltration hotspots. The system’s mobility is a key advantage; the radars can be trailer-mounted on a higher mast, dismounted on a tripod for inaccessible terrain, or quickly reconfigured to address evolving border threats.
The B400 radar employs advanced frequency-modulated continuous-wave (FMCW) technology to provide uninterrupted, rapid surveillance. It delivers 360-degree pure electronic scanning coverage, capable of detecting, tracking, and classifying small surface targets like people, vehicles, and vessels at ranges up to 32 km, even in demanding environments and all weather conditions, including fog. The system is engineered to work 24/7, providing a critical boost to real-time situational awareness.
A pivotal component of the solution is the AI-assisted BlighterNexus software. This creates a common operating picture (COP) by enabling easy integration of the new radars with the customer’s existing sensors. The unified interface allows security forces to manage multiple radars and peripherals seamlessly, reducing operational blind spots and improving coordination between surveillance operators and threat response teams. This scalable architecture provides a secure and smart view of diverse border terrains, including mountains, forests, deserts, and coastlines.
With a proven track record trusted by the UK Ministry of Defence, the South Korean Army, and the US Air Force, Blighter’s compact, modular radars are field-proven for mobile surveillance. This contract extension reinforces the value of their technology in delivering a robust, mobile, and integrated border security solution.
