L3Harris Technologies and MHI RJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ) have officially inaugurated a significant, multi-year partnership dedicated to the base maintenance and modification of the global CRJ aircraft fleet. The strategic collaboration, centered at L3Harris’s Mirabel facility in Quebec, establishes two dedicated service lines specifically for the CRJ700 and CRJ900 aircraft models. This initiative is designed to ensure the long-term performance, airworthiness, and reliability of the regional jets, directly supporting operators with sustained value and operational readiness.
The agreement represents a major augmentation of the existing MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul) network for the CRJ program. By leveraging L3Harris’s extensive capabilities, the partnership will provide comprehensive nose-to-tail modifications and heavy maintenance services. This expansion of aftermarket services is a direct response to the growing global demand for support of the in-service CRJ fleet, ensuring its continued evolution and legacy.
Leadership from both companies emphasized the profound trust and historical connection underpinning the collaboration. Officials noted the symbolic significance of performing this critical work in the same hangars that once produced the first CRJ900 prototype. The Quebec government also hailed the partnership as a testament to the province’s dynamic and attractive aerospace ecosystem, highlighting its role in fostering economic growth, driving innovation, and securing high-value private investment in the strategic aerospace sector. With initial aircraft inductions already underway, both organizations are actively exploring additional near-term projects to further strengthen the agreement, including the potential integration of specialized engineering services.
