Milrem Robotics will debut its latest THeMIS Combat unmanned ground vehicle at the Defense & Security 2025 exhibition in Bangkok. This specific model, uniquely integrated with Valhalla’s LOKI Remote Controlled Weapon Station, represents a cost-efficient solution for modern armies, offering a balance of firepower and expanded cargo utility.

The vehicle’s core purpose is to protect soldiers by pushing threat engagement forward. Operating ahead of ground troops, it allows for the remote identification and neutralization of enemy assets, creating safer conditions for human advance. This concept, what Milrem terms the “Forward Line of Robotics,” aims to reduce direct combat exposure and potential casualties.

“The THeMIS Combat is about transforming ground tactics,” explained Patrick Shepherd, Chief Sales Officer at Milrem Robotics. “It’s a force multiplier that extends a unit’s reach and resilience, allowing them to project combat power from a position of greater safety.”

The integrated LOKI RCWS is key to this capability. It is a versatile system capable of mounting weapons from 5.56 mm to 12.7 mm calibre, engaging targets precisely at distances up to 2,000 meters. Beyond direct fire, the station can also be configured for counter-drone (CUAS) missions, adding a layer of air defence to the platform’s capabilities.

Despite its potent armament, this variant of the THeMIS Combat retains a strong logistical function. Its design prioritizes payload capacity, enabling it to carry essential mission supplies or additional specialized equipment alongside its weapon system. This dual role as both a combat asset and a cargo carrier provides frontline units with greater tactical flexibility and endurance in the field.

The combination of the THeMIS UGV’s proven mobility and the LOKI’s adaptable firepower underscores a clear trend in defence: the use of unmanned systems to enhance survivability, increase operational tempo, and complicate an adversary’s battlefield calculations. At Defense & Security 2025, Milrem Robotics will showcase this integrated system as a tangible step toward more protected and effective ground operations.
