General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has been awarded a substantial $1.25 billion task order to continue its crucial support for U.S. Army Europe and Africa. The Enterprise Mission Information Technology Services 2 (EMITS 2) task order, awarded in September, includes a five-month base period followed by seven option years, ensuring long-term, stable support for the command.
U.S. Army Europe and Africa is a vital component command responsible for providing ready and combat-credible land forces across two continents. Its mission depends on a highly complex and geographically dispersed IT environment, which requires scalable, cutting-edge, and agile services to meet dynamic operational requirements.
Under this new task order, GDIT will deliver comprehensive enterprise IT, communications, and mission command support services to the command’s headquarters, its numerous subordinate organizations, NATO allies, and other mission partners. A core objective is to modernize the command’s entire network infrastructure, creating a modern digital backbone. This effort will involve maturing the mission partner network to enhance interoperability and collaboration.
Furthermore, GDIT will implement robust cybersecurity solutions to harden these critical systems against threats. The company will also leverage advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cloud computing, and data analytics. The application of these technologies is designed to enable rapid decision-making and maintain a decisive advantage.
Brian Sheridan, GDIT’s senior vice president for Defense, emphasized that a modern, secure, and resilient IT network is fundamental to the Army’s deterrence and readiness posture. This contract continues GDIT’s long-standing role in providing mission-critical services to the Army, building on other recent awards for base defense and training support. As a business unit of the global aerospace and defense company General Dynamics, GDIT brings extensive resources and expertise to this vital task of supporting soldiers and commanders in a critical theater.
