Gulfstream Demonstrates Sustainability Leadership in Mesa

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has announced the completion of a solar panel installation at its Mesa Service Center in Arizona. The facility has also just received the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. Together, these achievements represent a significant step forward in Gulfstream’s long-term commitment to a more sustainable future.

The new solar panels support 100 percent of the 225,000-square-foot (20,908-square-metre) service centre’s electricity at peak production. With this installation, the facility operates with more than 4,000 solar panels, which are expected to produce over 4 million kilowatt-hours of electricity a year — enough to meet annual demand. This is Gulfstream’s sixth solar installation across its facilities and its first in Mesa.

Mark Burns, President of Gulfstream, stated:

As a sustainable aviation leader, we remain committed to advancing environmental and clean-energy initiatives that support our industry.”

The Mesa Service Center is Gulfstream’s first facility to earn LEED Gold certification. It was built to operate with enhanced environmental efficiency through recycled, regional, and lower-emissions materials, use of renewable energy, solutions to reduce water consumption, redirection of construction waste to recycling, and optimisation of overall energy performance. This latest achievement increases Gulfstream’s total LEED- and Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology (BREEAM)-certified footprint to more than 2.6 million square feet across 12 facilities. These green buildings help reduce environmental impact and lower overall resource consumption.
