Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. has announced a significant sustainability milestone, with its fleet of corporate, demonstration, and support aircraft surpassing 3 million nautical miles flown on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) blends. This achievement underscores the company’s leadership in advancing business aviation’s environmental goals. The commitment was further demonstrated as the Gulfstream G800, G700, G600, and G400 all flew to the 2025 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in Las Vegas using SAF. These aircraft, alongside a mock-up of the newly announced Gulfstream G300, are featured at the event.
Mark Burns, president of Gulfstream, stated that this milestone is a testament to their commitment to sourcing and demonstrating the benefits of SAF. The company continues to maintain a strong supply of SAF at its Savannah headquarters and plans to increase its usage by nearly 50% this year compared to the previous year. Gulfstream’s history of innovation is extensive; it was the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to fly on 100% neat SAF and the first OEM to earn NBAA Sustainable Flight Department Accreditations across all four categories: flight, operations, ground support, and infrastructure.
Notable technological feats include completing the world’s first trans-Atlantic flight using 100% SAF—comprised entirely of Hydroprocessed Esters and Fatty Acids (neat HEFA)—in both engines in 2023. In 2024, the company successfully concluded ground emissions testing on 100% neat SAF containing zero sulfur. These accomplishments highlight Gulfstream’s role as a sustainability leader, achieved through strategic partnerships with fuel developers and engine manufacturers to reduce the industry’s carbon footprint.
