Noida International Airport (NIA) Partners With Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) For Seamless Fuelling Services

The Noida International Airport (NIA), a beacon of progress in India’s aviation sector, has taken a significant step forward in its development journey by signing a 30-year concession agreement with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL). This strategic partnership underscores NIA’s commitment to creating a world-class aviation hub and enhancing operational efficiency. By entrusting one of India’s most reputed and established fuel providers, the airport aims to ensure uninterrupted access to high-quality fuelling services for both passengers and operations.

Key Features of the Agreement

The agreement lays the groundwork for the establishment of three state-of-the-art fuel stations strategically located within the airport premises. These include:

  1. Passenger Convenience Hub: A fuel station near the main western access road will cater to passengers and visitors, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
  2. Operational Fuelling Station: A dedicated airside fuel station for airport operations will facilitate the seamless functioning of aircraft and related airport activities.
  3. Support for Cargo Infrastructure: A fuel station near the eastern cargo precinct, meeting the fuel requirements of logistical and transport operations.

This comprehensive setup ensures that all aspects of airport operations—from passenger convenience to cargo handling—are supported by efficient and reliable fuel supply mechanisms.

Strategic Insights from Leadership

The announcement of this partnership has been met with optimism and confidence by the leaders of both organizations. Mr. Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of Noida International Airport, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, *“Our collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd marks another milestone in NIA’s journey to operational readiness. By partnering with one of India’s most trusted fuel providers, we will ensure seamless and efficient fuelling services at the airport. This is a step forward in building Noida International Airport as the gateway to Northern India.”

Similarly, Mr. Sumeet Munshi, Divisional Retail Sales Head of the IOCL Noida Divisional Office, highlighted the alignment of NIA and IOCL’s goals in driving innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction. He remarked, *“Indian Oil is proud to join hands with Noida International Airport to create an unparalleled experience for travellers. This collaboration underscores our commitment to innovation, sustainability, and customer convenience.”

The greenfield project is structured as a public-private partnership (PPP) between YIAPL, the Government of Uttar Pradesh, and the Government of India. During its initial phase, the airport will feature one runway and one terminal capable of handling 12 million passengers annually, with plans for future expansion. In addition, the airport is deeply committed to sustainability, operating with the goal of achieving net-zero emissions through sustainable design concepts.

Collaboration for the Future of Aviation

The collaboration between NIA and IOCL is not merely about fuelling stations—it is a step toward creating an integrated, efficient, and sustainable airport ecosystem. In ensuring world-class fuelling infrastructure at strategic locations, the agreement addresses not only the operational needs of the airport but also the long-term infrastructural requirements of the region.

As Noida International Airport edges closer to operational readiness, this partnership symbolizes a forward-thinking approach to aviation. By bringing together global excellence, local expertise, and sustainable energy practices, NIA and IOCL are poised to redefine air travel in India. Together, they are setting the stage for an airport experience that prioritizes innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
