WINNIPEG, MB – StandardAero, a global leader in aerospace engine aftermarket services, has broken ground on a significant 70,000-square-foot expansion to its Winnipeg campus. This strategic investment is designed to substantially increase capacity and reduce turnaround times for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services on two critical turbofan engine families: the GE Aerospace CF34-3/8 and the CFM International CFM56-7B.
The expansion represents a 40% increase in the facility’s footprint and is a direct response to sustained customer demand. The CF34-3/8 engine, powering regional jets like the Embraer E175, and the CFM56-7B, which propels the Boeing 737 Next Generation family and military aircraft such as the P-8A Poseidon, are both cornerstone platforms for global aviation. This project will enhance StandardAero’s ability to support both commercial airlines and defense operators worldwide.
The investment is bolstered by a collaborative partnership with the Manitoba provincial government, which is contributing $3 million to the project. This partnership underscores the province’s commitment to its skilled aerospace workforce and its position as a global industry hub.
“The decision to expand our Winnipeg facility reinforces our long-term commitment to our customers and our 1,500 dedicated employees here,” said Russ Ford, Chairman & CEO of StandardAero. “With over 25 years of expertise on the CF34 platform, this investment ensures we continue to deliver the reliable, excellent service our customers expect, now with greater capacity and efficiency.”
The Honourable Jamie Moses, Manitoba’s Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation, noted, “This expansion is a testament to StandardAero’s continued confidence in Manitoba. We are proud to invest in our people and support a project that strengthens thousands of local jobs and cements our leadership in aerospace.”
Scheduled to become operational in the second half of 2026, the new space will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology and processes. Importantly, the majority of the additional capacity created by this expansion is already secured through long-term customer contracts, ensuring immediate utilization and a stable future for the workforce.
“StandardAero is a trusted, high-performing MRO partner,” said Vivek Kuppusamy, General Manager of Regional Engines at GE Aerospace. “This expansion enhances our network’s geographic and capacity options, directly supporting our shared customers in meeting surging travel demand.”
For StandardAero, this expansion is more than a physical growth; it is a strategic enhancement of its 114-year legacy in Winnipeg, focused on operational excellence and meeting the evolving needs of the global aviation market.
