Neo Space Group (NSG), a leading commercial space services provider and a PIF company, has significantly expanded its partnership with Thai Airways (THAI). The airline has selected NSG’s advanced NSG Skywaves® in-flight connectivity (IFC) solution for a factory line-fit installation on its entire new fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. This strategic move ensures that all 34 of THAI’s new 787s will be delivered with full, next-generation connectivity capabilities from their first day of service, eliminating the need for costly and disruptive aftermarket retrofits.
This agreement positions Thai Airways at the forefront of premium long-haul travel by enabling it to offer passengers seamless, high-speed Wi-Fi with broadband speeds of up to 200 Mbps. The multi-orbit IFC solution, which leverages SES’s Open Orbits™ network, combines the low-latency, high-speed performance of MEO satellites with the stability and global coverage of GEO satellites. This ensures reliable and resilient broadband connectivity, including uninterrupted service over regions like India and China, enhancing passenger experience, entertainment, and productivity throughout the flight.
The integration of the proven ThinKom Ka2517 antenna, a multi-orbit solution deployed on thousands of aircraft worldwide, creates a world-class digital in-flight experience. For Thai Airways, this initiative is central to its strategy of enhancing the customer journey and strengthening its operational capabilities. The airline’s leadership emphasizes that this partnership empowers them to deliver a superior, connected travel experience from the moment passengers board.
This 787 program milestone extends a collaboration that began in 2024 with retrofitting THAI’s Boeing 777 fleet and also includes line-fit installations on its A321neo aircraft via the Airbus HBCplus program. The first connected A321neo is expected in Q1 2026.
For NSG, Thai Airways serves as the launch customer for the 787 line-fit installation, a major achievement that highlights the group’s international growth and technical capability on a globally significant aircraft platform. This selection is another significant milestone, bringing NSG’s total to over 350 aircraft either activated with NSG Skywaves® or in the backlog. As a PIF company, this success supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 by advancing digital transformation in aviation and strengthening the Kingdom’s role in the global space economy.
