In a significant boost to Australian defence manufacturing, Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) has secured a $108 million multi-year contract to supply its Remote Weapon Systems (RWS) for the Australian Army’s new Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs). The contract was awarded by Hanwha Defence Australia (HDA), the prime contractor for the LAND 400 Phase 3 program.

Under this agreement, EOS will deliver an enhanced R400S RWS, a system purpose-built and fully integrated for the AS21 Redback IFV. The manufacturing will be undertaken at EOS’s facility in Canberra, leveraging a robust national supply chain of over 100 Australian companies. This approach strengthens sovereign defence capabilities and supports skilled jobs within the local defence industry.

EOS is a globally recognised provider of advanced weapon system technology, with over 2,500 systems sold worldwide. The company’s RWS are proven in operational service with militaries across multiple continents, including more than 700 units delivered or contracted for the Australian Army. This new contract underscores EOS’s role as a leading supplier of critical defence technology.

The LAND 400 Phase 3 project involves the delivery of 129 modern IFVs to the Australian Defence Force (ADF), representing a massive capability uplift. EOS’s contribution through this contract not only provides a world-leading tactical advantage for soldiers but also delivers substantial economic benefits through local investment, innovation, and long-term capability development, showcasing Australian industrial expertise on a program of national strategic importance.
