GE Aerospace has solidified the support network for its newest and most powerful engine by selecting AerCap Holdings to provide comprehensive lease pool management services for the GE9X. This strategic seven-year agreement ensures that customers operating the Boeing 777X family will have access to a robust and reliable global support system upon the engine’s entry into service. AerCap, a leader in aviation leasing, will leverage its extensive industrial network and proven expertise to manage critical GE9X operations. These services encompass shop visit management, lease return coordination, and full technical and administrative support.
This partnership significantly strengthens the long-standing relationship between GE Aerospace and AerCap, extending their collaborative engine leasing framework well into the next decade. For AerCap, adding the technologically advanced GE9X to its portfolio enhances its servicing capabilities. The company will utilize its existing customer relationships and global MRO network to deliver world-class support, ensuring high levels of reliability and safety for 777X fleets. This arrangement builds upon AerCap’s ongoing lease pool management for other GE engines, including the GEnx, GE90, CF6, and CF34.
Concurrently, GE Aerospace is making significant investments to prepare for the GE9X’s service debut. The company is expanding capacity, enhancing technical training programs, and integrating advanced tooling across its worldwide maintenance, repair, and overhaul shops. Customers will benefit from a complete suite of services, including engine overhaul, component repair, and advanced diagnostics. The GE9X itself is a marvel of engineering, holding the title of the world’s most powerful commercial aircraft engine. It is also the most fuel-efficient in its class, offering a 10% improvement in specific fuel consumption over its predecessor. As the exclusive engine for the 777-9, 777-8, and 777-8F aircraft, it is designed for optimal performance and boasts a generationally advanced emissions profile. Furthermore, like all GE commercial engines, the GE9X is certified to operate on Sustainable Aviation Fuel blends.
