UrbanLink Air Mobility and Signature Aviation Partner to Explore Development of All Electric Air Operations in Florida

by Jesmitha

Signature Aviation, the global leader in private aviation terminals, has entered into a strategic partnership with UrbanLink Air Mobility, an advanced air mobility operator, to accelerate the adoption of all-electric aviation in Florida. The collaboration, formalized through a letter of intent, centers on researching and developing the necessary infrastructure to support UrbanLink’s future fleet of BETA Technologies eCTOL (electric conventional takeoff and landing) aircraft. This initiative will leverage Signature’s extensive network of existing private aviation terminals across the state, providing immediate and critical infrastructure for the launch of electric air operations.

A key component of the partnership involves the active pursuit of establishing UrbanLink’s primary operating and maintenance base at a South Florida airport within Signature’s network. This base will be central to UrbanLink’s flight operations as the company scales its services. The collaboration builds upon Signature’s pre-existing work with BETA Technologies to explore the installation of electric aircraft charging infrastructure at its Florida facilities. This synergy ensures that both the aircraft and the essential charging networks are developed in tandem.

Ed Wegel, UrbanLink’s Chairman and CEO, emphasized the importance of utilizing existing private aviation terminals for their initial launch phase. This strategy provides a practical operational foundation while awaiting the future construction of dedicated vertiport infrastructure for more advanced air mobility missions beyond traditional airports. The partnership will also extend to the joint planning and development of these future vertiports, ensuring a seamless and scalable expansion of electric air mobility services throughout the region.

Tony Lefebvre, CEO of Signature Aviation, stated that the partnership underscores the company’s commitment to innovation and delivering exceptional customer experiences by looking toward the future of transportation. By combining UrbanLink’s operational expertise with Signature’s vast infrastructure, the alliance is poised to significantly grow the ecosystem for sustainable, all-electric air travel in Florida, marking a substantial step forward in the evolution of advanced air mobility.
