Who are the best Inspiration persons for you in both Personal & Professional Life? What are the lessons you learnt from them?

  • Late Dr. S Srinathkumar, Chief Scientist & Head, Flight Mechanics and Controls Division, CSIR-NAL (Retd.): for his grace, scientific curiosity and rigour.
  • Kota Harinarayana, Former Program Director and Chief Designer of Light Combat Aircraft, ADA-DRDO: for his perseverance in realizing an indigenous Combat Aircraft against all odds.
  • Late Prof. R Narasimha, Former Director, CSIR-NAL: for his belief in the ability of future generation of Indian aerospace engineers to deliver cutting edge products and technologies.
  • Late Dr. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India and Aerospace Scientist: for dreaming, inspiring and laying the foundations in ISRO, DRDO and CSIR-NAL for an Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Can you share one nostalgic moment in the process of becoming successful in your journey?

The formation of the inter-organisational (CSIR, DRDO, HAL) engineers fresh out of college under the able guidance of experienced scientists and engineers who worked to deliver the flight control laws for the LCA Tejas.

What are the best quotes still you follow in your day to life?

While there are many quotes which have influenced my day to day life, I would mention a few of them for the benefit of the aspiring leaders of tomorrow’s Bharat:

  • “Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life – think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea. Let the brain, muscles, nerves, and every part of your body, be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to success.” by Swami Vivekanand.
  • “Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.” by APJ Abdul Kalam.
  • “If people are not laughing at your goals, your goals are too small.” by Azim Premji.
  • “Ideas are no one’s monopoly. Think big, think fast, think ahead.” by Dhirubhai Ambani.
  • “Be the change that you wish to see in the world” by Mahatma Gandhi.

How do you feel when you get awards/recognitions for your work?

Awards/recognitions are primarily given for the work which we carry out for our parent organization during the professional phase of our life. While such accolades are primarily seen as appreciation of personal achievements, I believe that they are also recognition of our parent organization, without whose shelter, we could have not pursued good quality research and achieved excellence in our respective fields of interest. So the awards/recognitions which we receive for our work is also a tribute to our parent organization.

What is your message to young entrepreneurs who wish to become influencers?

Every failure will test your mettle.

Every success will get you an audience.

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall” – Nelson Mandela

Why can’t you share your achievements in last one decade to our readers?

On a personal level I was involved in the following initiatives:

  • Wake penetration clearance of LCA – This was a multi-disciplinary (aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, flight control) and multi-organization (NAL, HAL, ADA) team effort to obtain clearance for onboard systems for close combat, formation flight and air-to-air refuelling.
  • Mirage FOC upgrade – Focus of this work was carriage, handling, and store release (aeromechanical aspects) for a fighter aircraft. CSIR-NAL received the CSIR Technology Award 2019 for this program.
  • Civil Aircraft Projects – In the capacity of Program Director (Civil Aircraft Program) provided vital inputs for critical decision making for the flagship aircraft programs of CSIR-NAL which include HANSA-NG, SARAS Mk II and RTA.
