Can you brief us about your journey from Fashion Designer to Aviation Uniform Designer?
My professional journey began as a fashion designer, which led me to travel frequently to Delhi. During these travels, I pondered why Indian cabin crew couldn’t have more stylish and captivating uniforms while maintaining dignity and decency. Fashion is colorful and captivating, so why not apply the same principles to aviation uniforms?
I started by introducing myself to colleagues in aviation who were my co-passengers. These initial interactions sparked my curiosity and desire to learn more about the aviation industry. Regular trips to Delhi, the hub of aviation, allowed me to meet various operators and gather information. As a solo traveller, I observed the cabin crew, airport staff, and aircraft interiors, fueling my passion for aviation.
In pursuit of this passion, I conducted fashion shows featuring cabin crew from different airlines as models, with aviation professionals as chief guests. This period from 2020 to 2023 was dedicated to research and development, learning about safety measures, and sketching uniforms.
To gain deeper insights and expand my network, I attended aviation expos, including the 2022 show. This led to my official debut as an Aviation Uniform Designer under the label Nakshatra Aviation Alliance & Fashion (NAA&F) during the WINGS 2024 launch. I introduced the role of a dedicated aviation uniform designer, emphasizing the importance and impact of professionally designed uniforms over those sourced from local vendors.
The Challenging Transformation
The transition from fashion designer to aviation uniform designer was challenging. It required significant investment of time, money, and personal sacrifices. I had to overcome skepticism and prove the value of a dedicated designer in aviation, highlighting the unique advantages my designs offered compared to traditional vendors.

Who are your primary customers? What do you think are the main challenges?
As a newcomer to the aviation industry, I have established valuable connections and leads. Currently, I am designing for several Indian and UAE airlines, training academies, and flying clubs. Due to company policies, specific client names cannot be disclosed until the uniforms are officially unveiled.
The main challenge is educating clients about fashion terminology and demonstrating the benefits of innovative uniform designs. Designing uniforms for Islamic countries, considering cultural sensitivities, has been particularly challenging yet rewarding.
